Conversion Rate Calculator
Turn visitors and conversions into a clear percentage, or work backward to the traffic you need.

How to use this tool
This conversion rate calculator works two ways. In "Find conversion rate" mode, enter how many visitors you received and how many of them converted (a signup, a lead, a sale, or any action you track). Press Calculate rate and the tool shows your conversion percent. Switch to "Find visitors needed" mode when you already know your typical rate and want to learn how much traffic it takes to reach a target number of conversions. Enter the expected rate and the target, then press Calculate visitors. You can copy any result to share in a report.
The formula and how it works
Visitors needed = target conversions / (conversion rate / 100)
Conversion rate measures the share of people who completed the action you care about. A landing page signup rate, lead conversion, and checkout completion are all the same math: divide the number of conversions by the number of visitors, then multiply by 100 to express it as a conversion percent. The reverse calculation rearranges the formula to solve for visitors, which is handy for planning ad spend or traffic goals. Both directions assume your rate stays roughly steady as traffic scales, which is a reasonable planning estimate but not a guarantee.
A real example
Say a landing page drew 5,000 visitors last month and 120 of them filled out the signup form. The conversion rate is (120 / 5,000) x 100 = 2.4%. Now imagine your goal is 500 leads next quarter and you expect the same 2.4% rate. Visitors needed = 500 / (2.4 / 100) = 500 / 0.024 = about 20,834 visitors. That tells you roughly how much traffic to plan for to hit the target.
Common questions
What is a good conversion rate?
It varies widely by industry and offer. Many landing pages land somewhere between 1% and 5%, while highly targeted lead pages can run higher. Compare against your own past results rather than a single benchmark, and treat any figure as an estimate.
Can the rate be more than 100%?
Not in a normal funnel, because you cannot have more conversions than visitors. If the tool shows over 100%, double-check that conversions is not larger than visitors. The calculator flags that case as an input error.
What counts as a conversion?
Whatever action you decide to track: a newsletter signup, a free-trial start, a form submission for lead conversion, or a completed purchase. The math is identical no matter which action you choose, as long as you count visitors and conversions over the same period.
How do I find the visitors needed for a target?
Switch to the "Find visitors needed" tab, enter your expected conversion rate as a percent and the number of conversions you want, then calculate. The tool divides your target by the rate to estimate the traffic required.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Every calculation happens in your browser using plain JavaScript. Nothing you enter is uploaded, logged, or saved on a server.
This tool provides estimates for educational and planning use only. Real conversion rates fluctuate with traffic quality, seasonality, and offer changes, so treat the numbers as a guide, not a guarantee.
